Of course, when talking about transparency in the coffee supply chain, the most important part is the payment of farmers in the country of origin. By the same time its also the most difficult. Right now we are not buying directly from the farmers. (in the future this is one of our main goals). That means we need coffee sourcing companies we trust. In our case we find these people at the green coffee buyer Nordic Approach and also at our friends from Quijote Hamburg who are real pioneers in the field of transparent coffee trading. Our minimum claim was to get the so called FOB prices. If its possible we have the price paid at origin directly to the farmer the farmgate price (Ursprung).
FOB is the short form term for Free On Board (or Freight on Board) and roughly translates to mean that the cost of product being delivered to the nearest port is included in the purchase price, but the purchaser is liable to pay the shipping costs from that port.

Recently we also registered with The Pledge. An organization for the voluntary self-control of coffee roasters and importers who, like us, are committed to transparency. We are pleased that we can currently offer transparency with 100% of our listed coffees at least up to the FOB price.

Wenn es um Transparenz und fairen Handel in der Kaffee-Lieferkette geht, ist natürlich der wichtigste Teil die Bezahlung der Bauern im Herkunftsland. Zur gleichen Zeit ist es auch der schwierigste. Im Moment kaufen wir nicht direkt von den Bauern. (In Zukunft ist dies eines unserer Hauptziele). Das heißt, wir brauchen Kaffee-Importeure, denen wir vertrauen. In unserem Fall haben wir sie gefunden beim Kaffee Einkäufer Nordic Approach und auch bei unseren Freunden von Quijote Hamburg, die echte Pioniere auf dem Gebiet des transparenten Kaffeehandels sind. Unser Mindestanspruch bestand darin, von unseren Händlern die so genannten FOB-Preise zu erhalten. Wenn es möglich ist, natürlich auch den Preis direkt beim Erzeuger. genannt Farmgate Price ( Danke Cory).
FOB ist die Abkürzung für Free On Board (oder Freight on Board) und bedeutet in etwa, dass die Kosten für die Lieferung an den nächsten Hafen im Kaufpreis enthalten sind, der Käufer jedoch die Versandkosten entrichten muss ab Hafen.

Von beginn des Projektes an, haben wir uns auch bei The Pledge registriert. Eine Organisation zur freiwilligen Selbstkontrolle von Kaffeeröstern und Importeuren die sich, wie wir, der Transparenz verschrieben haben. Wir freuen uns, dass wir aktuell mit 100% unserer gelisteten Kaffees Transparenz mindestens bis zum FOB Preis bieten können.
